Smith Intranet Launch
The Smith School intranet is my baby — I spearheaded the research, development, content creation, demonstrations and marketing of this internal site for the Smith community. The site was built by our web developer using Drupal. It has about 550 users and launched in November 2014.
I designed the marketing collateral to announce to the school that the intranet was going live, using the tagline, “Are you all in for the Smith intranet?” I designed door hangers (one for faculty, one for staff) highlighting our launch date and the reasons each audience would be interested in visiting the site. I also designed emails and posters promoting the event, lanyards detailing how to log in for the first time and stickers to wear the week of the launch to show you’d logged in (similar to the "I Voted" stickers). We even had cookies made to match design elements of the collateral.
To create a campaign that would stand out in a sea of red and yellow, I added aqua to the color palette. All of the collateral was tied together using a pattern of power icons in red, yellow, gray and aqua, symbolizing our school powering on the site. We received a lot of positive feedback from staff and faculty who said the campaign really jumped out.
The campaign was a huge success and within one day of the launch, we had more than half of the community log on to the site.
